Royal blessing for distillery in Speyside

THE Prince of Wales and the Duchess of Rothesay are to open a major expansion of a leading Speyside distillery next week.

The royal couple will open a new facility at the Glenlivet Distillery on Friday. Completed earlier this year, the extension will increase production capacity by 75 per cent increase to satisfy global demand in the buoyant market for single malt Scotch whisky.

Master distiller Alan Winchester said: "The opening will be a momentous occasion in the long and proud history of The Glenlivet Distillery. It was a privilege to be involved with the new building and we are honoured to have such distinguished company to mark the occasion."
