Row over tram project details

TRANSPORT chiefs were under fire today for refusing to reveal key financial information about Edinburgh's trams project.

Objectors to the plans asked for the "benefit-to-cost ratio" of the scheme to be released under Freedom of Information laws.

However, officials have refused to release the information, even though Transport Minister Tavish Scott recently said "initial work on the new proposal suggests that the benefit/cost ratio is healthy".

SNP MSP Kenny MacAskill said: "This project is of huge cost as well as significance to Edinburgh. Refusing to release this detail smacks of something to hide."
