Row after love triangle claim

An alleged love triangle ended in court after a man accused his girlfriend of sleeping with his brother.

Brendan McKay made the accusation during a furious row with his “on-off” partner after he spent the evening drinking in the pub.

He returned to Mary Marshall’s home and started shouting and swearing at her, a court heard.

Paul Beaton, prosecuting, said Miss Marshall feared for her safety and called police.

McKay, 42, was arrested later that evening at his brother’s house. It took four police officers to detain him because he put up such a struggle, Mr Beaton said.

McKay made no reply when charged with behaving in a threatening and abusive manner towards his ex and causing her fear and alarm.

But when charged with resisting arrest he told police: “I apologise for that.”

McKay, from Edinburgh, appeared for sentence at Livingston Sheriff Court yesterday.

He earlier pleaded guilty to committing both offences at Miss Marshall’s home in Whitburn, West Lothian, on October 19. He was fined £235.
