Rottweiler abandoned with bedding, food and worming tablets

ONE-year-old Izzy the Rottweiler was abandoned in a garden in West Lothian with her bedding, food and worming tablets.

She was found by a resident at Maryfield Park in Mid Calder at around 9pm last Monday night.

The Scottish SPCA is appealing for information.

Inspector Jenni Surgeon was called to rescue a bewildered Izzy whose barking had alerted neighbours. She said: "Izzy is generally in good condition, but she is a little lean. She's a young, friendly dog who does have a tendency to be boisterous, so it may be that her owner became unable to cope and just decided to get rid of her."

"Dumping her in someone's garden has kept her contained and prevented her from straying and possibly coming to harm or being run over, but that doesn't excuse the fact that she has been abandoned, which is something we take very seriously."

She added: "She's probably feeling confused and alone right now, so we hope to find her a loving home with a responsible owner soon."

Izzy is now being cared for at the Scottish SPCA's Edinburgh and Lothians Animal Rescue and Rehoming Centre in Balerno.

The centre, which is currently under refurbishment, will be closed to the public from Monday due to major roadworks, and will re-open on 3 May.
