Roosh V brands Glasgow '˜convict resettlement zone' after protests

Roosh V, real name Daryush Valizadeh, has organised the events.

Daryush Valizade, also known as Roosh V, has sparked a furious backlash from Scots after it was revealed he was planning “international meet-ups” in Edinburgh and Glasgow.

The self-described “pick-up artist” has organised nine get-togethers for followers across the UK this weekend, though he will not be attending in person.

Nearly 50,000 people have also signed a petition calling for the Scottish Government to ban the events, which they say will allow him to “promote his hateful violent views in our cities”.

But Valizade, 36, claims he has been receiving violent threats and shared a message sent to him on Twitter where a user talks about him being “kicked to death”.

He tweeted: “I’ve received more threats from Glasgow than anywhere else combined.

“Is it some kind of convict resettlement zone?”

Mr Valizadeh has previously written that he believes rape should be legal on private property, arguing that this would end “rape culture” by encouraging women to protect themselves more effectively and eliminate uncertainty regarding consent.

He later claimed the article was a thought experiment.

However, in another blog post he wrote: “Modern women are too broken, unreliable and narcissistic to give men anything reliable besides fornication.”

Protesters are planning to disrupt the event in Glasgow’s George Square on Saturday, with more than 600 signing up to the Glaswegians Against Roosh V event on Facebook.

The site states: “Pro-rape women-haters are not welcome in Glasgow, as they will find out when they gather in George Square … and have the p**h ripped right out of them by decent Glaswegians.”
