Romanov's lifeboat help

HEARTS owner Vladimir Romanov is supporting a bid to set up a lifeboat station at Loch Ness, it was reported today.

RNLI bosses hope to build a new, larger base close to the present one on the shore at Drumnadrochit.

Crewman Martin Douglas revealed that Mr Romanov had pledged to help raise cash for the move this month after a swim at the loch in memory of seamen who died on Russian submarine K-19 in 1961.

Mr Douglas said: "Mr Romanov's assistants said they'd like to support us by sending signed shirts and Hearts memorabilia."
