Rollins rolls out Treasure Island work

LEGENDARY American artist Tim Rollins has created a new work based on Robert Louis Stevenson’s swashbuckling tale Treasure Island with help from Edinburgh school pupils.

The new work, called The Black Spot – named after a recurring motif in Stevenson’s novel – features in a major retrospective of Rollins’ work.

The exhibition, which opened at the Talbot Rice Gallery on Saturday, is Rollins’ first solo show in Scotland and was unveiled with a little help from city student Sinead McNulty.

New York-based Rollins and three members of his collaborative group K.O.S (Kids of Survival) spent two days creating the new work of art ahead of the exhibition’s opening.
