Rockers hit the heights

A SOULFUL rock band from the Capital will play the first ever live gig at one of Scotland's key sporting fixtures this weekend.

More than 11,000 people voted in an online battle of the bands, with Edinburgh-based five-piece Dirty Modern Hero receiving the most votes in the contest to be the first band to play at the UCI Fort William Mountain Bike World Cup.

The band will rock the main stage at the event before the 4-Cross final on Saturday night, where the world's top mountain bikers battle it out in a knock-out event at the Nevis Range.
