Robin slides in for Capital launch of Grease tour

SKATING legend Robin Cousins will join the star cast of the hit musical Grease when its new tour gets under way in the Capital.

Grease will open at the Edinburgh Playhouse in May, with Robin starring as Teen Angel Danny Bayne and Carina Gillespie as his sweetheart Sandy.

Robin is currently head judge on the panel of ITV1's hit show Dancing on Ice and will continue in this role for the 2011 live tour of Dancing on Ice, before gliding into Grease on May 6.

The former Olympic champion said: "After being part of Grease in the West End last year, I am very excited to be joining this new, young and energetic cast to once again play Teen Angel in this fun and vibrant show.

"It gets everyone's feet tapping and I can't wait to see how the audiences will react across the country in the coming months."

Producer David Ian said: "We're taking everyone's favourite show across the UK on its greatest tour ever."

Grease will run at the Playhouse until May 21.

Since 1993 Grease has been seen by audiences totalling more than 12 million people in the UK alone.
