Robbers flee with £10,000 from Tesco

POLICE are hunting three armed robbers who fled with more than £10,000 after threatening staff at a Tesco supermarket with a “bladed weapon”.

The masked robbers raided the Tesco Express on Great Western Road, Aberdeen, shortly before 11pm on Sunday and forced the staff to hand over a low five-figure sum of money.

Detective Inspector Norman Stevenson from Grampian Police, who is leading the investigation, said: “During the incident, three men entered the shop and demanded money. While the men were armed with a bladed weapon, no-one was injured during the incident. It has, however, left the three staff at the premises understandably shaken.”

Police are keen to hear from anyone who saw three men in the area. They were all aged in their late teens or early twenties, wearing dark clothing and hooded tops.

Police have declined to specify the type of bladed weapon used in the robbery, but have confirmed that it was not a knife.
