Robbers confess to carrying out video rental store raid

TWO robbers have admitted carrying out a raid on a city Blockbuster.

Edinburgh Sheriff Court yesterday heard Thomas Airlie, 35, and Liam Kinghorn, 24, targeted the video rental store at Main Street, Davidson's Mains.

Fiscal depute Melanie Ward said the pair walked into the store at around 6.15pm and approached sales assistant Iain Dewar.

The court heard one of them said "give me the money in the till". The other man then punched Mr Dewar in the face and he was hustled into the back of the shop. Ms Ward said the door was locked to prevent other people coming in.

Airlie, of Edinburgh Prison, and Kinghorn, of Barlinnie Prison, admitted carrying out the offence on November 9 last year. Sheriff Elizabeth Jarvie QC deferred sentence until later this month.
