Robber takes rucksack at knifepoint

A MAN was robbed at knife-point by a thief who made off with his rucksack.

The 27-year-old victim was walking on Calder Road at around 9.45pm on Monday when a man approached him from behind on the footpath near to the junction with Cultins Road. The suspect pulled out a knife before demanding his belongings.

The suspect is white, in his 40s or 50s, 6ft tall with a sturdy build. He was wearing a dark zipper jacket and a dark beanie hat and he spoke with an Edinburgh accent.

A police spokesman said: "The victim was left understandably shaken by this incident but fortunately was not harmed.

"We are now eager to speak to anyone who was in or around Calder Road and witnessed the incident or recognises the description. Similarly, anyone who can assist with our inquiries should also come forward."
