Road worker killed in digger accident named

A road worker who died after becoming trapped between a road roller and a digger on a Perthshire road has been named as David McCorey, 31, of Stranraer in Wigtownshire.

Mr McCorey was pronounced dead at the scene by paramedics after emergency services were called to the accident on an unclassified stretch of road near Dunblane.

A force spokesman said: “Tayside Police were called to an unclassified access road, near Knoxfauld Farm in Kinbuck, Perthshire at about 2.20pm on Wednesday following a report of an industrial accident.

“Officers along with paramedics from the Scottish Ambulance Service attended in the area and a 31 year-old man was found with serious injuries having been trapped between a road roller and a digger. Despite attempts to revive the man he was pronounced dead at the scene.”

The spokesman continued: “The area was cordoned off to allow enquiries to be made. As with all industrial accidents the Health and Safety Executive were informed and a representative attended at the scene to carry out their own enquiries.

“There are no apparent suspicious circumstances surrounding his death and as with all sudden deaths, a report will be submitted to the Procurator Fiscal.”
