Road closed by rock fall

PARTS of Holyrood Park were closed to traffic after a rock fell and shattered on the road.

The Low Road past Duddingston Loch was closed by park rangers near the junction with the Innocent Railway path yesterday at 9am.

No-one was injured and it was not known if any motorists were in the area at the time of the rock fall.

Historic Scotland, which manages the royal park, said rangers were quickly on the scene to clear the debris.

Rock falls are not uncommon in the park, although Historic Scotland said the rock face had been inspected earlier this year.
