Rise in new businesses

The number of new businesses set up in Edinburgh has increased.

New figures published by the city council show that 87 businesses were started up with the help of Business Gateway in December, which was 4.8 per cent higher than the same month of 2010.

Total business incorporations in Edinburgh surged by nearly a third in the three months to December, to 1214, taking the total figure for the year to date up to 3761.
