Rise in births among unmarried mothers

TWO-THIRDS of children in parts of Scotland will be born to unmarried mothers within the next parliamentary session.

Figures by the Office for National Statistics show births outside wedlock are the norm in many areas. West Dunbartonshire topped the Scottish list at 63.5 per cent, while Dundee followed with 63 per cent.
