Richey denies handbag theft

KENNY RICHEY has denied stealing a handbag from a woman in a pub in Edinburgh.

Richey, 44, appeared in court yesterday following the alleged incident on Thursday.

Richey and Ronald Mathieson, 43, are alleged to have stolen the bag and its contents from the Artisan bar in London Road.

Richey appeared at Edinburgh Sheriff Court and pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft.

Sheriff Celia Sanderson set a date for Richey's trial in September this year. Mathieson, of Springfield Road, South Queensferry, admitted stealing the bag. Sentence was deferred.
