Richard Demarco art finds a home

VETERAN festival impresario Richard Demarco is set to permanently house his million-piece archive and collections in The Royal Dick Vet School.

The artist, director and promoter said he had found his dream home for his year-round "university of the festival".

It is being used as the Summerhall Festival venue. The large B-listed building has been sold by Edinburgh University for 3 million to a private investor, whose plan is to turn it into an arts and cultural centre, with Demarco's collection taking over a fifth of the space.

The new owners want to see the building used for artistic and cultural purposes.
