A VARIETY of rhubarb has joined the ranks of Champagne and Parma ham by having its name legally protected.

Yorkshire Forced Rhubarb has been awarded protected designation of origin status by the European Union, so only growers in the "rhubarb triangle" between Bradford, Wakefield and Leeds can use the name.
