Review £300k bonuses, minister is urged

TRANSPORT Secretary Christine Greening is under pressure to review the £300,000 of bonuses awarded to the top civil servants in her department.

The criticism comes after a question by Glasgow North West MP John Robertson revealed around £300,000 was paid to the 39 most senior civil servant in the Department for Transport (DfT) on top of £1.6 million in salary payments.

He pointed out that the highest bonus of £35,700 was more than the average household income. And he said after she pushed Network Rail chief Sir David Higgins to decline a £340,000 bonus, she should do the same with her civil servants.
