Review into Scots BBC rival

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop today launched a review examining the viability of a Scottish public service broadcaster to compete with the BBC.

The Scottish Government appointed an independent panel to investigate how to set up and fund a new digital network comprising television and internet channels to "address the deficit of public service broadcasting in Scotland".

Ms Hyslop said: "Scottish audiences deserve their own network."

The review comes two years after a Scottish Broadcasting Commission report concluded a digital network would address the deficit of public service broadcasting in Scotland.
