Reverend in hanging plea

FORMER Kirk Moderator the Very Rev Dr Andrew McLellan has added his voice to pleas to Pakistan to pardon a Christian woman sentenced to hang after being convicted of defaming the Prophet Mohammed.

Dr McLellan, former minister of St Andrew's & St George's Church in George Street, has written to the Pakistani High Commissioner urging his government to release Asia Bibi, 45, a mother of five, who was accused following a dispute with Muslim farm workers.
