Retraction: Gordon Brown and the Sun newspaper

In an article published on Tuesday 12 July we reported that sources close to Gordon Brown believed that the Sun newspaper had obtained information on Mr Brown's son directly from his medical records.

The claim from the former prime minister was widely reported in other titles.

The Sun newspaper has now clearly demonstrated that their information came from a different source. We apologise for the error.
