Restaurant is hot stuff

A VEGETARIAN restaurant in the Capital has been named the best in the UK in the Gourmet Britain 2011 awards.

Kalpna, in St Patrick Square, an Indian-vegetarian restaurant, was crowned Best Vegetarian Restaurant at the competition in May.

Simon Scrutton, managing director of Gourmet Britain, said: "Kalpna is an Indian restaurant specialising in vegetarian Gujarati, Punjabi and south Indian dishes.

"Their cooking combines exotic recipes with fresh, seasonal ingredients with many dishes which are completely untaxing on those not keen on hot spicing."

The Bhartdwaj family has run the restaurant for 25 years.
