The Scottish Fire and Rescue Service were called at about 5am after reports of smoke coming from a building in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire.
The flames were located in an electrical box at a property in Church Grove and extinguished, but power supplies in the area are down leaving residents without power.
It remains unclear as to how many homes are currently affected by the outage.
A spokesman for SP Energy Networks, which is currently working on resolving the issue, said: “Our engineers are working to restore supplies, however they will need access today, to all affected properties. This is essential to allow us to complete the required repairs and to reinstate your supply. We apologise for any inconvenience.”
A Scottish Fire and Rescue Service spokeswoman said: “We were alerted at 4.54am on Thursday, December 24 to reports of smoke issuing from a residential property at Church Grove in Tillicoultry, Clackmannanshire and a smell of burning within the nearby Colliers Court area.
“Operations Control mobilised four fire appliances and a very small fire that had taken hold within an electrical box at the Church Grove property was duly extinguished. Firefighters believe this caused the smell of burning at Colliers Court where no fire was found and the area deemed safe.
“There were no casualties. Firefighters notified and briefed Scottish Power and local authority partners due to the power supply to a number of homes being affected and are presently preparing to now leave the scene.”
