Reservoir dog and owner feeling blue after walk rescue

A WOMAN and her three-month-old puppy had to be rescued after an afternoon walk in the Capital went disastrously wrong.

The 46-year-old was walking at Torduff Reservoir near Bonaly Road at midday yesterday when her dog escaped through a fence, down a steep embankment and into the reservoir.

The woman lowered herself down the embankment using the dog lead in an attempt to rescue her pooch - a spaniel called Murray - but they then became trapped on a steep ledge.

The dog walker did not have a mobile phone and was unable to raise the alarm. A passer-by spotted the woman and contacted the emergency services. Specialist line rescue-trained firefighters rescued the woman and her dog from the ledge, which was around a 12 feet drop from the path they had been walking on.
