Reprieve for hotel's bar

A HOTEL bar has been given a reprieve after licensing bosses failed to give enough notice of a hearing.

The Ceilidh-Donia Hotel in Newington was called to a licensing board meeting yesterday where it risked losing its right to sell alcohol following an alleged breach of conditions.

However, its lawyer argued neither he nor the hotel owners had been given sufficient notice to respond to claims, and the council agreed to put off the hearing until next month.

It prompted calls for the council to send out all citations in recorded delivery format.
