Remote Lewis community tests increased broadband speeds

BT Openreach engineer Stuart MacDonald in North Tolsta as the remote community in Lewis becomes the first in Scotland to test increased broadband speeds over long phone lines.

Initial results from some 20 homes have seen “significant increases” in fibre broadband speeds and could lead to a roll-out in rural areas across the country.

Higher power levels and more frequencies are being used to improve the service.
