Reform of crofting organisation begins

THE reform of the Crofters Commission started yesterday with three appointments and publication of the notice for the body’s first ever elections.

Six candidates will be elected in March by Scotland’s crofting community, part of a move to transform the organisation into the more democratic Crofting Commission. The remaining three spaces have been filled by ministerial appointment.
