Recycling strikes a chord

UNWANTED sports and musical equipment is to be given a new lease of life through a community recycling project.

The Big Drop will see radio stations across the country collect everything from drum kits to recorders, tennis rackets to guitars, and re-distribute them to new homes – while also benefiting the environment.

Forth One presenter Arlene Stewart teamed up with Pauline Hinchion, chief executive of Community Recycling Network Scotland, to launch the scheme, urging families to search their homes for any unused items.

The project is the brainchild of the Bauer radio group, which includes Radio Forth and Radio Clyde, and the Scottish Government's Go Greener campaign, along with the recycling network.
