Read up on Book Week celebrations

Scotland’s first official national celebration of reading will be launched at the National Library on 
Wednesday.

Book Week Scotland will take place from November 26 to December 2 and aims to deliver a packed programme of free projects and events, bringing people of all ages and interests together to celebrate books and reading.

Culture Secretary Fiona Hyslop will be announcing the full programme and unveiling some of the events major highlights, including The League of Extraordinary Book Lovers.

Commissioned by Scottish Book Trust, the league is a panel of volunteers who will be on hand during Book Week Scotland to provide book-related advice and reading recommendations across a range of topics to everyone in 
Scotland.

Ms Hyslop will be joined by Marc Lambert, chief executive of Scottish Book Trust, Andrew Dixon, chief executive of Creative Scotland, and representatives of several organisations involved in Book Week Scotland activities.
