Reaching new heights

MAJOR Ellen Bruce, a member of the Royal Electrical and Mechanical Engineers, was giving a helping hand to fellow climber Lance Corporal Ian Karkoutli, from 26 Engineer Regiment, as the pair scaled cliffs below Edinburgh Castle barefoot.

The climb was held to raise awareness of the European Military Climbing Championships, being held at the Edinburgh Indoor Climbing Arena at Ratho on October 27 and 28.

The event will see British climbers from the navy, army and RAF pit their skills against counterparts from six other nations.
