At the High Court in Glasgow, Judge John Beckett QC told 33-year-old Przemyslaw Rogowski that he had indulged in “brutal and degrading conduct” towards the two women.

Judge Beckett told Rogowski that he considered him a danger to the public and ordered him to be monitored for four years after his release from jail.

He added: “Woman and the public have to be protected from harm.”

Judge Beckett also placed Rogowski on the sex offenders’ register.

The Polish national, who met the women in Glasgow, was snared after one of his victims reported him to the police for having a collection of child pornography.

He was convicted of assaulting and sexually abusing the two women. The abuse – both physical and sexual – took place over an eight-year period. The court heard that Rogowski re-enacted violent rape-related internet pornography at home.

His first victim, who was 20 when she first met Rogowski, told the jury how he used her as a punchbag. He would slap her on the face, punch her, spit on her and jump on her body and strike her with a belt.

Rogowski also throttled his partner and on one occasion, between April and September 2003, he restrained her while another man had sex with her. Then Rogowski punched her unconscious before also having sex with her.

His second victim, 26, was beaten unconscious and on various occasions between April 2008 and November 2010, he raped her.

He threatened to make her have sex with another man while he watched. Rogowski also told his terrified victim he would make her have sex with a prostitute while he watched, and he forced her to watch porn.

Eventually she left him after finding child pornography on his computer, and she contacted the police.

The court heard that Rogowski had 109 photos of children and was searching the internet for Russian Lolita, rape, rape torture and rape videos.

Prosecutor Tim Niven-Smith said: “It appears that the accused has a predilection for female children aged six to 12 years and an interest in rape-related pornography.

“This is significant as his two victims were beaten and raped by the accused. Not only did Mr Rogowski watch such things, but he carried then out at home. He is a controlling man, an aggressive man, a violent man.”

Both women, in their evidence, told how at first Rogowski was the perfect gentleman – charming, caring, affectionate and loving. But, in each case, as soon as he moved in with the woman he became increasingly violent.

Throughout his two-week trial, Rogowski denied all the charges against him.
