Rangers player is banned for speeding

FOOTBALLER Kyle Hutton had his driving licence revoked yesterday after he was clocked speeding at more than 100mph in his distinctive sports car.

The Glasgow Rangers player was caught speeding in the same white Audi A3 he was bundled into the boot of during an abduction which led to two men being jailed earlier this year.

Hutton, 20, who has played for Scotland’s under-21 side, was given nearly three months to pay a £400 fine after telling the court Rangers paid him less than £25,000 a year.

The midfielder – who passed his driving test last October and had already accumulated three points for running a red light – had a further six points added yesterday.

That means that as a new driver his licence will be revoked by the DVLA and he will be banned from the road until he has re-sat and passed his driving test again.

Solicitor Barry McCormack, for Hutton, said his client had no excuse for driving at 101mph and would have his ability to work hampered by the loss of his licence.

The player had earlier been criticised for missing a court appearance to go on a foreign trip with Rangers.
