Rangers director Stockbridge buys £755k mansion

BRIAN Stockbridge, the Rangers director, has reportedly purchased a £755,000 mansion in Dunbartonshire.

Stockbridge bought the first half of the massive villa overlooking the Clyde in 2012, with a further purchase concluded in June. According to the Daily Record, Stockbridge plans to convert the building into a luxury home.

Rangers Supporters’ Assembly spokesman Andy Kerr told the paper: “From a fans’ point of view, this is effectively at our expense.”

Stockbridge, the club’s finance director, is one of only two board members remaining at the end of a week which saw the resignation of chief executive Craig Mather after the club’s annual general meeting of shareholders was delayed by a Court of Session ruling.

Stockbridge is paid over £200,000 a year by Rangers, with a £200,000 bonus available which he did not receive in 2012. Rangers posted an annual loss of over £14 million this month.

Earlier this month, it was revealed that former club chief executive Charles Green purchased a 400,000 euro home in France.

Green said of the Normandy home: “In each of my visits, it is as if the castle told me: ‘buy me’.

“I hope to finish the work within three months and bring my horses.”
