Rail fares increase: What it means for Edinburgh commuters
The average hike in season ticket and peak fares follows a 3.6 per cent increase at the start of this year, which was the biggest jump since 2013.
We took a look at what the increases meant for Edinburgh commuters analysing the rail season ticket prices to find the price differences that Edinburgh commuters could face.

Hide AdThe current price for a season ticket to and from Bathgate is £1,636, this is set to increase by £52 a year to £1,688.


Travelling to Dundee is set for a £138 increase from £4,312 to £4,450.
If commuters travel to and from Glasgow, the fare is set to go over £4,000 rising from £3,956 to £4,083, an increase of £127
Inverness annual passes cost £8,324 and will go to £8,590, a leap of £266.


Closer to home, travellers to Linlithgow will face a £56 increase from £1,764 to £1,820
And Livingston North has a £50 hike per annum with fares rising to £1,622 from £1,572.
Livingston South have a similar increase from £1,492 to £1,540, a £48 increase.
North Berwick commuterd face a £58 rise from £1,804 to £1,862.
