Rail bosses hit out over strike

RAIL bosses say they are "extremely disappointed" unions are set to press ahead with the second in a series of one-day strikes over plans to operate "driver-only" trains on the new £300 million Airdrie-Bathgate line.

Talks between ScotRail and the RMT union broke down yesterday, with union bosses vowing to hold a second 24-hour walkout on Monday and a third on 13 March – the day of the Scotland v England rugby match at Murrayfield.

ScotRail managing director Steve Montgomery said: "I am extremely disappointed."
