Racecourse helps charity

Muirfield Riding for the Disabled Association is celebrating a boost to its coffers following a successful race day at Musselburgh Racecourse.

The course made the East Lothian group its preferred charity for 2010 and gave 1 for every person through the gates up to August 22.

The 3840 raised will go towards a project to extend its facilities at Gullane.

MRDA spokeswoman Susan Law said: "These funds will help finish off the building of the extension, which will improve and extend the riding therapy service the charity offers to people with disability."
