Queen to spend week in city

THE Queen is to spend a week at the Palace of Holyroodhouse as part of her Diamond Jubilee celebrations.

Her Majesty, accompanied by the Duke of Edinburgh, has announced a series of engagements during Holyrood Week – July 2-6 – which celebrates Scottish culture, history and achievement and includes an investiture and garden party.

Since her accession to the throne in 1952, the Queen has visited Edinburgh nearly every year.

The week will begin with the ancient Ceremony of the Keys and she will also spent time in Glasgow and Perth.
