Put best foot forward for annual ceilidh showcase

An annual showcase of traditional music is to celebrate its tenth anniversary year.

The four-week Ceilidh Culture programme, organised by the Usher Hall, is to get under way on March 16.

A feast of music, dance and storytelling starring performers from all over Scotland has been promised, with more than 30 organisations involved and events held throughout the city. Details of the programme are to be announced next month.

Councillor Steve Cardownie, the city’s festivals and events champion, said: “Ceilidh Culture has something for everyone to enjoy.

“An energetic and enthusiastic audience is the best reward for the artists involved, so we hope people will come along and have some fun.

“This is a great opportunity for Scottish artists to put their best foot forward and show us what they are made of. I am looking forward to hearing about the line-up next month.”
