Pupils walk tall in bid to break record

More than 500 youngsters from St Mary's Primary School, Prospect Primary School and Hermitage Primary School were marching through Leith Links yesterday as part of a UK-wide bid to break a world record and encourage drivers to slow down around schools.

Independent adjudicators from the Guinness Book of World Records were on hand to witness the march, organised by national charity Brake.

The Brake Kids Say Slow Down campaign is hoping the final figures from around the country will see it smash the current world record for the largest simultaneous walking bus attempt in multiple locations by children, which stands at 119,696.
