Pupils pen pure poetry

YOUNG wordsmiths Kirsty Simpson and Robert Wright have been named as the winners of a national poetry competition organised by Poppyscotland.

Kirsty, a primary seven pupil of Hermitage Park Primary School, wrote her poem We Meet in the Silence, and Robert, a first-year pupil of James Gillespie's, penned Birds of the Battlefield.

The two visited the Lady Haig's Poppy Factory to perform a reading.
