Pupils get eco-friendly regeneration

THREE East Lothian primary schools will undergo a energy-saving revamp after tenders were approved for a window replacement programme.

Improvements costing nearly 180,000 will be carried out at Prestonpans Primary School, Gullane Primary School and Innerwick Primary School, with work on Innerwick Primary expected to begin during the scheduled school break in February.

Work on the other two schools will be undertaken by county firm Bankton Building Services during the summer break.

The project is part of East Lothian Council's 2 million primary school and nursery repair and renewal programme set up last October.

An estimated 19.5-tonne reduction in carbon emissions is expected as a result of improvements to the three schools.
