Pupils' funds boost search for a cancer breakthrough

PUPILS from Lasswade High School have presented a cheque for £1500 to Breakthrough Breast Cancer, bringing the school's total donations to the charity to £4000.

Breakthrough Breast Cancer funds Scotland's first and only dedicated breast cancer research unit, located at the Western General Hospital in Edinburgh, and its works across the country.

Pupils from Lasswade High attended the unveiling of the charity's supporter wall at the Western General Hospital, along with teacher Rosemary Mitchell, to present the cheque and see their school's name on the wall, for the second year in a row.

Pamela Newby, fundraiser for Breakthrough Breast Cancer in Scotland, said: "We are so grateful for the continued support of Lasswade High School, and it was lovely to meet everyone and say thank you for all their hard work.

"The money they have raised will help us to continue to fund our vital work in Scotland.

"We depend entirely on donations from the public to fund our work, which is why fundraising activities like these are so important."
