Public sector strike ahead

STAFF at Edinburgh Castle, Jobcentres and the courts are among thousands of public sector workers set to strike on Thursday in a dispute over pensions.

Up to 30,000 Scottish members of the PCS union are protesting against the Westminster reforms, which hit their paypackets for the first time in April.

Scottish Secretary of the PCS, Lynn Henderson, said: “Since this was introduced our members are already losing between £60 and £150 per month. It won’t go to their pensions but straight to the Treasury.”
