Public praise plans for new health centre

Patients in one of Edinburgh's poorest areas have welcomed proposals for a new health centre.

NHS Lothian held a public information event to discuss the planned Wester Hailes Healthy Living Centre.

The initiative, being run by the council and the health board will see a range of services brought together under one roof.

It is hoped the location of the resource, on Harvesters Way, will be close enough to the Westside Plaza shopping centre to encourage people to visit.

David Small, general manager for the Edinburgh Community Health Partnership, said: "We are delighted the development is progressing well and at the feedback received from the open day.

"The event provided us with the opportunity to let people see what it will look like and ask questions of the team."
