Pub opening pushed back

The long-awaited opening of a £1.6 million ‘super-pub’ has been pushed back – to Valentine’s Day.

The new JD Wetherspoon pub, in the former Hayweights cinema and bingo hall in Musselburgh, had been due to open in December.

However, planning delays in the redevelopment meant work did not start until September, and the group has now announced it will open the venue on February 14.

Eddie Gershon, a spokesman for JD Wetherspoon, said: “The building work has taken slightly longer than expected.”

The new pub is expected to create 40 jobs for the area, and the development has been welcomed by community leaders.
