Psychiatrist wins award

Dr Sharon Smith was named advanced psychiatric trainee of the year by the Royal College of Psychiatrists.

Her work with diabetes patients was praised by the organisation.

She said: "It is an area I've been particularly keen to develop.

"We set up a new service for the psychiatric management of people with diabetes and the results of the feedback of the service have been excellent."
