£5k con artist is spared jail

A MEDIUM who conned £5,000 from a bank wept as she escaped jail and was instead ordered to carry out 180 hours of community service.

Lynne MacNeil, 41, withdrew the money from another person's account at NatWest, Edinburgh, by presenting a false driving licence.

She was caught out when she went back to the same bank a few days later and tried to get a loan of 11,000 in another person's name, again using the same false identity documents.

MacNeil, of Croftend Avenue, Glasgow, admitted obtaining 5,000 by fraud from the George Street bank on 18 June, 2009 and attempting to obtain 11,000 by fraud at the same bank on 24 June, 2009.
