£55,300 offered for Beatrice's hat

AUCTION bids for Princess Beatrice's bizarre royal wedding hat have exceeded £55,000.

There are 37 bidders competing on eBay to get hold of it. The leading bid on the auction website - which ends tomorrow - stands at 55,300.

The flamboyant Philip Treacy creation has been compared to a Turkey Twizzler, a toilet seat and a pretzel.
